Do we offer breastfeeding education? Yes! Yes we do!

What is included in a prenatal consult? Absolutely everything you want to know about feeding your baby!

Prenatal consults are all about YOU. Before we meet, we will send you an intake form so that we can understand any concerns you may have as well as see anything in your history that may impact the way you want to breastfeed. We want to make sure you are armed with the information you need to find success in breastfeeding, however that may look for you.

What happens during a prenatal consult?
During your appointment, we will give you information about what to expect with breastfeeding, including breastmilk production and breastfeeding in the early weeks. We will also let you know when you should ask for help (this part is super important!). You will be able to ask any questions you have about breastfeeding.

 

You may want to know how to get breastfeeding off to a great start. You may have concerns about your breasts and wonder if you will be able to breastfeed. You may just want some education about how to know breastfeeding is going well. We will provide general breastfeeding education as well as education based on your personal history. We will discuss this and everything else you want to know before your baby is born.

 

What about pumping?
We talk about that too! Some mothers have plans to pump once their baby is born, and we will talk about what that might look like for you. This includes choosing a pump, how to use your pump, which flange size you need, and how to make your pumping plan.

What happens next?
After your appointment, we will send you a care plan that includes everything we talk about during your consult. We will also be available to you should you have any more questions before your baby arrives.
